I love to be active, and triathlon training gives me a daily challenge. I almost enjoy training as much as racing! I prefer the shorter distance races, and love to race local events. I’ve always been active from various sports and outdoor adventures. Being president of the club is both a privilege and challenge. I hope that members enjoy the friendly atmosphere that I find as I associate with so many of my club member friends. I really enjoy meeting new members and we have been blessed with great growth in our numbers year over year. A highlight of mine was the 2023 St. George 70.3 IM event with over 90 club members competing and completing the event! We received the Triclub award for points from Ironman that race and it was almost a party atmosphere out there on that amazing May day.

I love feedback from club members. We all serve as volunteers and have limited time. If you want to see something happen, let me know…if you have time to help us make that happen-even better!!

I’m a middle-aged mom of 4, a high school cross-country coach, and a running shoe expert at the St George Running Center who loves to race. I’ve been doing triathlon for 20 years and did my first triathlon four months after my first child was born. Since then, I’ve learned to swim and participated in countless sprints, Olympic, and 70.3 triathlons. I have completed four full Ironmans, including Kona, in 2022 (thank you, COVID!) I love triathlon and running and helping others get into and progress in those sports.

I love pushing my limits and putting in the work to see what’s possible. Which is why I love triathlon so much! I enjoy the 70.3 and completed my first full last year.

Running track and cross country in college gave me the foundation I needed to stay active for the rest of my life and triathlon is one way I do that. I also believe Southern Utah is the perfect place to live if you enjoy being part of an active community. If I’m not running, biking or swimming, I’m climbing mountains, hiking with my kids, or mountain biking.

I look forward to meeting new members and working with SUTC to grow the club and the sport in the Southern Utah region.

I grew up in a pool and won my first race in 1959. Jeri and I recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by completing a sprint triathlon together. Triathlon has been such a big part of our lives that it seemed like a fitting way to celebrate the day. We have four children and sixteen grandchildren.  Some of them have joined us in races.

We love being able to train and race together.  The best part is we always have a training partner to motivate each other.  We typically do nine workouts a week, three in each discipline. One thing we have learned is that a race seldom goes as planned.  Our ultimate goal moving forward is to be able to be active together for many more years to come.

I have worked construction since I was 15, the last 25 years as Controller. I retired several years ago and we moved to St George full time.

I ran my first mile in 2016. After moving up in running distances and running my first marathon, I quickly bored of “only running”.  When I discover triathlon, I fell in love!  I love training and find inspiration during races all around me. I’ve done several of all the distances but my favorite race was Ironman Cozumel. I love the triathlon community that welcomed me when I moved to Southern Utah in 2019, and am excited to give back. I’ve found as much joy in supporting athletes, as I have in participating.

My Triathlon journey started in 2015.  That’s the year we moved to Washington City. We had lived in Marysvale Utah the last 40+ years.  I was 65 years old, I was riding my bike five days a week. It was Christmas time and our daughter Melissa convinced me to try a Triathlon. Since 2016, I have competed in close to 30 Triathlons with the crowning event being the St. George IronMan last May.  Also, many half marathons and bike races.
My wife, Shelley and I are the parents of six children, 24 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
One of the motivators in my life of being active is the book “Younger Next Year”. It is written for people in the last third of their life.(I hope I’m in the last third).
I love all the many friends I have come to know from racing and being in the Triathlon club. Looking forward to many more years of racing and finding new friends.
